They're so cute. Making them feels like knitting socks. Well, unless you're doing one of EZ's little ingenious inventions, and then maybe they feel like knitting a doily with arms for a while, until they fold up into a cute little baby sweater.
The ladybug sweater has been resurrected from the bottom of the WIP basket. It's so cute, but I had:
- 1) Arrived at the sleeves portion of the sweater.
- 2) Had the wind taken from my baby knitting sails when I was told my grandson would not be wearing hand-knits.
I have had him in mind (still do!) the entire time I've been planning and working on this cute little Baby Dale pattern.
After I got over the "poor me" feeling, (and as soon as I ran out of other projects, and couldn't think of a sock project I was just itching to start), I picked up Marihone again. I'm running perilously low on the yellow, and spring green colors that I need to finish this sleeve. Mostly it's the green that's got me worried, because I have to knit two more bands of it, and I'm pretty sure there's not enough. I haven't dug completely through the stash again yet, but I have a sneaking feeling the only "extra" I have for this sweater is the turquoise blue color. Natch.
Meanwhile, back at the start-line, I decided that lavender Baby Cashmerino I had steeping in my meager little stash for about a year now, would make EZ's February baby sweater from "Knitter's Almanac" a lovely thing to knit. And I was right. What yummy yarn. This will be for a girl baby gift, of course. I'm thinking, like dishcloths, baby sweaters could be a good thing to stock up on for when friends/relatives have babies who do wear hand-knits. I have a deeper plum color in this yarn too that I haven't decided what to do with yet. Whatever end ends up being, it will be a lovely experience making it. This yarn is sooo nice.

Oh your lady bug sweater is so cute.
I think having stock piles of gifts is a great idea, because whenever I have a baby to knit for, by the time I work on the project I just don't want to do it. So having something I could jsut give without knitting right then, would be awesome. Maybe I"ll make some bibs and booties, etc.
